In partnership with AtoBetter and Norfolk County Council, Loud Mobility brings She’s Electric to the market town of Aylsham, for the very first Aylsham E-Bike Day!

Aylsham E-Bike Day is a family-friendly event that aims to give local residents a chance to come and try a range of electric bikes in a safe, supported environment to encourage sustainable transport and active travel in the town.

‘She’s Electric’s mission is to enable and inspire more women to ride electric bikes as their mode of transport and we are delighted to be bringing it to the residents of Aylsham for Alysham e-bike day. And it is not just women who can attend, everyone is welcome, no matter your age, gender or ability!’ Caz Conneller, Director of Community and Culture at Loud Mobility.

About Alysham Ebike Day

Date: Saturday 7th September 2024, 10am-4pm.

Location: Aylsham Recreation Ground, Aylsham.

Interested in trying an e-bike? Aylsham E-Bike Day is your perfect opportunity. Electric bikes help many people overcome the common barriers to cycling. They are easier to ride than regular bikes. They feel safer and more stable on the road. You don’t get so hot and sweaty. And they are often better for carrying children and everyday belongings and serve as a more practical vehicle for everyday life than a regular bike. They are also a lot of fun to ride!

An E-bike for Everyone

At Aylsham E-Bike Day, there will be a range of e-bikes from local suppliers for people to try in a safe, supported, off-road environment. We will have urban e-bikes, 3-wheeled e-trikes for a more stable ride, mountain e-bikes for the more adventurous and electric cargo bikes suitable for carrying children. She’s Electric’s dedicated team and partners will be on hand to give you all the information you need and support test rides and short-led rides throughout the day. There will also be a trained cycling instructor to help those who are nervous or haven’t ridden for a while and advice for cycling with children onboard. There will also be information on The Cycle to Work scheme and ways to make the costs more manageable.

Family-Friendly

There will be a drop-in kids’ cycling skills session provided by local experts, Little Riders, to keep the little ones entertained with balanced bikes and helmets for people to borrow (suitable for ages 2-7). There’s a ‘Dr Bike’, so you can bring along that old bike in the shed that’s in need of a fix. There will also be free coffee, cake and refreshments served in the pavilion and stylish cycling helmets for sale at a discount price.

It’s a chance to come and learn more about cycling in the area, connect with others and see if e-cycling is for you. The event is 100% free for all attendees, and while the focus is on women, it’s open to all and anyone can take a test ride. Let’s get Aylsham moving towards the future of sustainable transport and have some fun while we do it!

Local Partners

We are delighted to be working a range of local partners: The fantastic local bike shop; Aylsham Cycle Centre, and e-bike experts Norfolk Electric Adventures and Smilebikes, along with Beryl Bikes who run the shared e-bike scheme in Norwich, and Little Riders who provide cycling lessons and training for children and adults, along with a Dr Bike and coffee, tea and cake from local cafe, Dig in!

About She’s Electric

She’s Electric is a national behaviour-change campaign to enable and inspire more women to ride an electric bike as their mode of transport. The campaign was started by Caz Conneller who noticed a significant shift in her customer base to electric bikes when running Cyclechic and how many women were being completely enabled by an e-bike, often with a moving story to tell. E-bikes are becoming recognised as a mode of transport that could significantly reduce carbon emissions and congestion in our towns and cities aswell as ensuring general health and well-being by providing gentle, regular exercise.

Caz, recently recognised as one of the top 100 women in cycling, decided to start a campaign to showcase these women and give more women a chance to try. Caz then joined forces with Georgia Yexley, sustainable transport expert and recent winner of the Women in Innovation Award, to develop the campaign more widely and bring it to more locations to reach more people.

Caz and Georgia share a mission to address the gender gap in cycling and give more women the guidance, inspiration and opportunity to try an electric bike and enjoy them in their everyday lives. See more inspiration and our She’s Electric Role Models here. To date, we have enabled 600 test rides and aim to reach 1 million over the next 3 years.
